Management - General

6
▶Why is my suggestion taking so long?
IM:RP is a large community that receives hundreds of suggestions each month. We must carefully choose which ones to focus on because our time is limited.

Even small features require several hours of development and testing. Larger features can take days, weeks, or even months to complete.

Many suggestions affect the in-game economy and other server features. This means we need to thoroughly discuss and plan to prevent major issues or imbalances among groups or players.

Because of this, most suggestions may never be implemented or could take years to be developed. If you have posted your suggestion on the forums, it will be read and considered. Please do not remind management about it.
▶How do I make a suggestion?
You can only make suggestions in the forums. Suggestions made anywhere else will not be considered.

Take time to carefully think about your suggestion before posting it. Simply saying "remove this" or "add this for fun" is not enough. Consider why something exists or does not exist, the impact your change would have, and how it would affect all players, not just yourself.

Developers review hundreds of suggestions and spend many hours working on them. While it may take a few minutes of your time to write a thoughtful suggestion, this effort is necessary. You should ask yourself if your suggestion is important enough to justify that time.
▶Why does the server restart?
We make changes to the server by restarting it.

This doesn't happen frequently. However, urgent bug fixes may require a restart at any time during the servers operation.
There also may be some restarts just to refresh the server to make sure there aren't bigger problems.

Upon a server restart, you do not need to quit the game, you may wait it out, and it will respawn you back to your old position together with your weapons and cars, if you had any spawned at the time.
▶What is management busy with?
Running IM:RP takes up a lot of time for management and most of the work they do is invisible and done when they are not in-game.

For example, they have to:
- Defend against cheaters, some of them designed specifically for IM:RP.
- Answer support tickets, Discord DMs, and forum PMs.
- Deal with appeals and reports (or help admins with them).
- Update the server software and dependencies, make backups, monitor performance.
- Monitor the staff team and hire/promote them when they're ready.
- Protect the server against daily DDoS attacks and exploit attempts.
- Read through forum suggestions and discuss the ones that seem good.
- Restore players who forgot their password and/or e-mail address.
- Investigate game crashes, improve mods, work on the launcher.
- Avoid and defend against RWT, fraud, and chargebacks.

Remember, management members are also humans, they have a lot more going on in their life than just IM:RP, and sometimes they join the server to have fun rather than work. Please avoid harassing them.
▶Why are there so many bugs and crashes?
GTA: San Andreas was released in 2001 and was not designed to work with current hardware or modern versions of Windows. SA-MP, the multiplayer modification, has not been maintained since 2014 and uses memory hacking to add multiplayer functionality to the game. Additionally, many mods are poorly written and can conflict with each other.

IM:RP itself includes tens of thousands of features that depend on one another. Changing one feature can affect hundreds of others. The server code alone contains 247,208 lines of code, not including third-party components. There are also other parts such as the user control panel, forums, launcher, custom mods, and numerous helper scripts.

Many players use outdated or broken machines, some running Windows 7 or 8, which often leads to crashes and incorrect configurations. These issues are not limited to IM:RP and are difficult to fix or support for all users.

For these reasons, we ask you to be patient and report bugs with as much detail as possible. Instead of saying "this is bugged, help," please provide a clear description and, if possible, create a forum post with steps to reproduce the issue. This helps developers address problems more effectively when they have the time.
▶Why do premium members get perks?
Running IM:RP costs a lot of money. Not only are there 10+ servers that have to be paid every month, developers will also have more time to work on IM:RP and less on their real-life jobs if they can get rewarded for their time.

While we want to avoid any pay to win features, we do have to reward premium members and encourage people to become a premium member. This is why their perks will mostly be limited to increasing limits, reducing cooldowns, and unique skins that make them stand out from regular players.

In the past, premium members and top ups were given unique businesses and vehicles that had a major impact on the server economy. Sometimes there were private deals and discounts. This has been stopped after 2023 and no longer happens. Everyone gets the same perks for the same price as listed on the website.

Remember, if it wasn't for premium members, the server would have shut down a long time ago.
